Automated Transcription Investigation
Focus
Scoping, design and viability for using automated speech recognition technology for incorporating audio content into an Indigenous news aggregation platform.
Approach
Kuaba was engaged by a university to work with the First Nations Media Association to review audio content sources with the intent of assessing accessibility for automated transcription.
Kuaba assessed the existing infrastructure and source code to determine the feasibility of integrating speech to text software into the system.
Kuaba then engaged potential software providers to discuss the feasibility of engaging in a social enterprise partnership for the project and evaluated the suitability of each provider’s offering. Each provider was evaluated across price, quality, speed, customisation and the strength of a future partnership. Our evaluation included tests on data samples through API integrations and statistical analysis of the results.
